Conversation: Breakthrough or Breakdown? Visions for a Different Future
Wed, July 8, 2020
7:00 PM – 8:30 PM BST
“If success or failure of this planet and of human beings depended on how I am and what I do … HOW WOULD I BE? WHAT WOULD I DO? …” Buckminster Fuller
Breakthrough or Breakdown? We are at a crucial point in society: How each of us chooses to act at this time could help determine which path we follow.
This is uncharted territory.
- What does it all mean?
- What are the possibilities?
- What choices do we need to make?
- How might we harness the opportunities inherent in the current crises we are facing?
In this conversation we will hear 3 imaginative visions for the future – perspectives that are perhaps rarely heard in mainstream media. We will have short presentations followed by discussion.
Our guest conversationalists are:
Scilla Elworthy, the distinguished peace campaigner, three times nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize and adviser to Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Sir Richard Branson in setting up ‘The Elders’;
Jo Berry, international peacebuilder and founder of Building Bridges for Peace, whose father, Sir Antony Berry MP, was killed in the Brighton hotel bombing in 1984; and
Liz Rivers, women’s leadership advocate, the UK’s first female commercial mediator and Rights of Nature activist.
“The mindset of control and domination that caused the current crisis will not lead us out of it.”
“Another world is not only possible, she is on her way.” (Indian author, Arundhati Roy)
Registrants will receive an invitation to participate by Zoom before the event.
