Until recently and for the past 10 years, Dr Imad Karam was the Executive Director of Initiatives of Change International. Imad is a value-driven, forward-thinking British Palestinian leader, originally from Gaza, with more than 22 years of professional experience in charity management. He is a peace activist with vast experience in inter-faith dialogue and reconciliation and is deeply commitment to justice, peace and human rights.
Imad is adept at galvanising diverse, multi-functional teams around shared goals, with a proven track record in strategic governance, organisational development, stakeholder diplomacy and high-impact global advocacy.
Imad is also passionate about making documentary films which he does in his spare time. His films focus on forgiveness, peace-building and reconciliation. His work includes the award-winning documentary film, The Man Who Built Peace, which tells the story of Frank Buchman, the founder of Moral-Rearmament and how helped unite the bitter enemies of World War II and the award-winning documentary film Beyond Forgiving, which depicts the journey of two South Africans to bring healing and reconciliation to their country post-Apartheid. His latest work [to be released soon] is the Hardest Bridge, which captures the extraordinary journey of Jo Berry with former IRA combatant Patrick Magee following the tragic death of her father, Sir Anthony Berry, in the 1984 Brighton bombing.
Imad has an MA in Media and Communications from Goldsmith College, University of London and a PhD from City University London in Media Sociology.
